Kara chutney/Tomato chutney
Ingredients: (3to 4 persons). Big onion- 3 if it is medium sized , country tomatoes _3, dry red chillies _6 to 7, garlic cloves_15. For seasoning:gingelly oil,mustard,urud dhal,hing, curry leaves. Method:. In a pan,add a spoon of gingelly oil.Heat it,then add chillies,garlic,onion one by one and saute it for 5 minutes.Then add tomatoes.Saute it until the tomatoes become mushy.cool it.Transfer to a mixie jar.Add required salt.Dont add water.Grind it.Transfer the chutney to the serving bowl.For seasoning,boil the seasoning pan,add gingelly oil one teaspoon,add mustard,urud dhal,a pinch of hing.when they pops up,add curry leaves and pour it over the chutney and give a mix.Our Kara red chutney is ready to serve.no need of tamarind as the country tomatoes are enough for the tangy taste.Goes well with idli,dosa,Adai,wheat dosa,millet dosa.
